Case Study: Dairy Farm
Dawsongroup were recently contacted by a large dairy farm located in Cornwall. The company produce a range of dairy products including: clotted cream, milk, butter and crème fraiche, and are now one of the leading wholesalers of dairy products in the South West. Due to the company’s continued success, the company are beginning to expand their current site.
During the extension work, the company will be unable to fully utilise current cold storage facilities and therefore required a temporary cold store for approximately 18 weeks. Martin Bowman, Regional Sales Manager, suggested a double High Capacity Store as the best solution due to the ease of transporting and installing the unit, in addition to the units’ capability of reaching the required operating temperature and the 40 pallet capacity.
The team at Dawsongroup conducted a site survey, realising that the install location would allow perfectly for a unit with custom fitted barn doors at both ends. This assisting in maintaining a steady 2°C temperature throughout the loading process for the dairy, as well as ensuring efficient access of the crates of milk. Furthermore, the site’s existing cold store features an external concrete loading platform. The loading platform meant the client could easily convert their outdoor space into a temporary, chilled holding area before loading products onto delivery vehicles.
The unit was delivered and installed in less than 48 hours, allowing the dairy farm to begin expansion and continue to operate during this period. Our client knew they could rely on Dawsongroup to provide the most cost effective solution, tailored to their exact requirements, allowing the company to remain fully operational.
